Collection: Margrethe Hauglie

Margrethe Hauglie is a Norwegian artist born in 1956. She lives and works on Åsethagan, a small farm in Åsmarka, Ringsaker. She has an education from the Norwegian School of Handicrafts and Art Industry (SHKS), where she studied graphics with a focus on illustration and book art between 1977 and 1981. She then studied painting at the Norwegian Academy of Arts (SKA) from 1981 to 1985.

In recent years, Hauglie has explored different approaches to landscapes through painting, particularly using oil on canvas. She tries to capture the light and essence of colours, shapes and spaces that can symbolically express different states of mind and a sense of belonging to the landscape she is in. Her pictures are a mixture of memory, dream and reality - a place to move to, a space for a change, a separate room.

Hauglie's paintings are a beautiful representation of nature and the inner world of the mind.
