Collection: Tom Gundersen

Tom Gundersen is a Norwegian artist with education from both the Norwegian School of Handicrafts and Art Industry and the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts. He debuted as an artist at UKS in 1981 and has since had several solo exhibitions. His graphic series is based on quick croquis drawings of models, with poses lasting only a few minutes. He uses a unique metal printing technique developed by Rolf Nesch, where a plate of zinc solders metal wires, fly netting and perforated metal plates, and combines this with other graphic techniques such as woodcut and cold needle. His prints are handmade and are never printed in large numbers. Gundersen has received several grants as an artist and is known for creating accurate, stylized caricature portraits. He has been purchased by a number of institutions, such as Art in the workplace, the Norwegian Cultural Council, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Storting and the National Gallery.
